Sad and Happy all at once

Happy Friday!  So sorry I missed posting yesterday, but when I started to write, I got sad and I was not ready to be sad.  A childhood friend of my husband's and a girl I went to school with lost her mother Wednesday night.  It was all of a sudden, out of the blue.  Now Mark and I have had a falling out with this girl and have not spoken for over a year (childish, I know, but that is how it is) but we have maintained contact with the other siblings and this girl's children, so of course we are going to attend the funeral.  The girl reached out to Mark yesterday and asked if he would be a pall bearer and of course he said yes.  I am glad we will be able to put aside hurt feelings to celebrate this wonderful woman.  I have met her a few times and she welcomed me with open arms.  My hubby has very fond memories of this mom and is very honored to be able to celebrate her this way.  I have had 3 people I know lose their mom's in the last 4 months.  My mom and dad are still alive as our Mark's and we are so very thankful. On Sunday, we will be having everyone over for a cookout to celebrate our moms and a part of me will be hurting for all my friends who do not have a mom to celebrate.  So, be thankful for the people in your life because you never know when it will be your last day with them.

Ok, on to brighter topics.  Tomorrow is our celebration Women Run Arkansas 5K Graduation.  I am so excited!  I have witnessed so many wonderful women not only accomplish their fitness goals but surpass them as well.  The look on their faces are priceless.  I have been blessed beyond to be a part of their lives and this group.  We are going to continue our clinic so many more can accomplish the goals they have yet to achieve and work on new ones.  It will be hot, but worth it.  They had the sprinklers on yesterday (in the rain!) so hopefully that continues because that will feel so good in mid June.  Come join us!  We will meet Monday and Thursday from 6-7.  There are no sign ups and it is welcome to all age groups and genders.  I know hubby will be joining as well as the Princess.  I may even get the boys to join, who knows?

I am on a hunt for a car for my son.  He has been without a car for too long.  Sharing is getting old.  Now, in our family, the teen drivers are responsible for their gas and maintenance on their cars, such as an oil change, new wiper blades, etc.  This is understood when they are given a car.  We bought the cars and pay for their insurance, so I do not believe the other expenses are too much to ask.  Taking ownership instead of just receiving handouts creates responsibility and maturity.  Jake always thinks twice about just cruising around since he is responsible for gas.  And it helps them learn how to budget, because everyone needs to be on some type of budget.  I know, I am a hard ass, but I am getting ready to send these people out into the real world on their own and they need to know how to take care of themselves.

Here is to a wonderful weekend.  Enjoy your families and friends. Take a moment to pray about those who are hurting this weekend and please give someone a hug.  It sure feels good!
