Something new

It's raining, it's pouring, the old man is snoring, the lights went out, the lightening show was cool....
Yes, rain, rain, and more rain.  That is the forecast for the day.  I do not like weather unless it is sunny and warm.  Yes, snow is pretty, but it is also cold, blech.  But, I did something last night I have never done before. A friend posted on facebook last night about the cool lightening storm that was happening.  Now, I am scared of thunderstorms.  I do not like them Sam I am.  I do not know why, I just don't.  Well, I am all about doing things that are new to me, so out I went.  I grabbed my favorite Adirondack chair, my phone, and positioned myself to the best (and safest) vantage point.  Wowzer!  It was beautiful.  I was scared and awed all at the same time.  Now, when hubby came home and joined me, I felt safer.  He has that effect on me.  Will I do it again, maybe from a screened in porch, but I am glad I did it.  What is your something new you have tried?  Life is too short to miss out on all the wonderful things out there.

Someone posted a picture today that says "Fitness is 20% exercise and 80% nutrition.  You can't outrun your fork".  Is this true?  I think to an extent it is.  I know active people who are still overweight because they do not couple the exercise with good nutrition.  One of my bff's is an ultra runner.  By this I mean she runs all the time.  It is nothing for her to crank out 6 miles one day and 12 miles another.  She said she does this so she can drink wine and eat chocolate.  That always makes me laugh because she is such a clean eater.  She really pays attention to what goes into her body and that makes all the difference in the world. Now, she does drink her wine and eat her chocolate, but in modification...the chocolate not the wine, lol.  Just kidding, love you JP!  So, this is my tip of the day.  Balance your exercise and nutrition.  Do not go all in on one and not the other and make sure you are getting in all your calories so your body is burning the fat and not the nutrition.

My hubby is a huge music lover.  He has been sending me fun songs to listen to all morning.  He is definitely lifting my grey, rainy mood.   He is a keeper.

Have a lovely rainy day.  I am taking the fam tonight to feast on all you can eat pancakes, bacon, and sausage....does it get any better?????  Luckily I am making healthy choices today so I can pig out tonight.

Hugs!!!
