Yipee! It is Monday. Not really, yippee for Monday, but the weather is fabulous outside, finally. What a dreary weather weekend. I was freezing! Hubby and I hit the Greek Food festival, hugged some necks(I love that southern saying), bought some baked goods, grabbed some Gyros and took off. I am not made for cold weather, AT ALL! I even turned the heat on this weekend. Hubby, of course, ran around in shorts all weekend, but not me. Long sleeves, jeans, jacket, and of course, flip flops. Boots are in storage and will not see the light of day until fall. Saw lots of Uggs this weekend, no thanks. They are made for winter only. After Easter, it is white shoes, white pants, and sandals all the way. Yes, I am a slave to the fashion rules, but hey, they work. Back to the food festival. Yummy. Love the gyros and the baked goods. Now, I know Little Rock offers a variety of wonderful Mediterranean eateries, but there is nothing like a Greek food festival gyro. I don't know if it is the flavor or the sentiment. I grew up in the Greek Orthodox church in Little Rock and when I go there it just feels like home. I love the people, the smells, and of course the food. Next year, I am thinking of dusting off the Greek dancing shoes and joining the dance troupe. I always enjoyed dancing and now that I am not in school, why not? I am not Greek, but Romanian. My mom grew up in a Serbian Orthodox church in Michigan and when her and my dad moved to Little Rock, the only Orthodox church was the Greek one, so we made it our church home. I love all the nationalities in our church. We are a true melting pot where everyone is accepted. What a concept, huh?
After the food festival, hubby and youngest stepson went to play basketball while I ran errands. I picked up hubby's anniversary gift. I am so excited for him to open it. I love giving gifts almost as much as receiving(I said almost) especially when I know I have picked the perfect one. I have already been given mine and I love it. Hubby bought us a photo album for our wedding pics. Yes, two years later they are still on a cd. So, we are going to create it, send it off and they will deliver it in about 2 weeks. I love it! I kept meaning to get around to creating a photo album, but I am so glad hubby took the time and beat me to it. I am hoping this week we can finish it and get it sent off. We started it, now just to finish.
Sunday afternoon, we met some friends at the Pantry to help the Pantry celebrate their 5 year Anniversary. They served paella, which was amazing and we had beer and wine. One of guests is the wine guy, sorry, the Sommelier, at Colonial Wine and Spirits and he ordered a fabulous Zinfandel. Good food, good wine and good friends, need anything else? I love the Pantry. It has a fabulous happy hour, the owner, Tomas, is a doll and it is where hubby and I had our first date. We also had our engagement dinner there, so it holds many special memories for me. I love that we have that. I am all about memories. I think that is why I take so many pictures. I love looking back and seeing how the kids have grown, the beginnings of a relationship, places I have been, etc. Anyway.....go visit the Pantry if you have not already. I am excited about the second location in Hillcrest. They are taking the spot where the House used to be. I would imagine I will be a frequent flyer at both locations, but I do like the fact they are coming closer to my neighborhood.
Tip of the day: Get back to it! Why do I say this? Mostly for myself. I hardly exercised last week and I can feel it. The weather turned cold and rainy, so the walking was out. I did continue my strength training. I do 125 bicycle sit ups, 30 crunches, 1 or so minute plank, 30 modified push ups and 45 or so squats. I am trying to get toned up for the summer. I can already tell a difference, but I only managed 3 days last week instead of my usual 5, so I need to get back to it. Am I kicking myself for falling off the routine, no. Life got busy and cold. Is that an excuse? Most certainly, but that does not mean I will give up all together. You should never give up. Always have an exercise routine. You will benefit from it and your clothes will fit better, I promise.
Anyway, enjoy your Monday and hug a friend. You can also hug a stranger, but be careful of the repercussions. Not everyone enjoys a hug like me.
Hugs!
